We are driving from California to Texas, stopping along the way to marvel at the incredible beauty that lies in and between these two states.
Driving with half of our stuff backed into my little Jetta. My little car made it with no problems!
In the Sierras outside Lake Tahoe in beautiful California.
Tufas in Mono Lake -which is twice as salty as the ocean.
Leaving California, my home.
And into Nevada…
Tonapah Nevada’s scariest accommodations.
Stopping over for a night in Las Vegas!
Antique shops, diners, icecream and fudge…my favorite things about being on the road in small-town America.
Hoover Damn and its newer accompanying bridge in Arizona.
The Grand Canyon!
Gum tree at the Canyon.
Reed and me.
Painted Desert in Arizona. Breath taking.
Petrified Forest in Arizona. These trees are from the triassic period…petrified to a glassy sheen and filled with quartz, amethyst, jasper, and agate.
Lots of glassy petrified wood..older than dinosaurs… strung along the ground. Pictures just don’t do it justice.
White Sands in New Mexico. I still can’t believe this place is real.
Well, We’ve safely arrived in Texas where we are laying low for a bit. Driving across the Southwest revealed to me how much natural beauty there is between my and Reed’s home states.
